What has Miss Buikema been reading lately?  Several new books that have come into the LRC over the past couple of weeks have peeked her curiousity.  Come in and check out some of these new titles:

Maybe a Bear Ate It!  Written by Robie H. Harris.  Have you ever lost a library book before?  Then this is a picture book you must read!  A popular seller at this year’s Scholastic Book Fair. (Grades K-2)

Fortune’s Magic Farm, by Suzanne Selfors.  Everything changes for ten-year-old Isabelle when she discovers that she has a family and comes to a land that is filled with wondrous things.  But Isabelle remembers those that helped her in hard times, and goes back to make sure their lives have some magic of their own.   (Grades 3-5)

The Mozart Question.  Written by Michael Morpurgo.  This book received rave reviews from the editors of School Library Journal.  A thoughtful but inspiring fiction book which looks at how musical talents saved some of the Jews from death within the concentration camps, but changed the way that they felt about their music for the rest of their lives.  This is fast read, but a heart-tugging story. (Grades 4-5)

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.  This classic tale is one that Miss Buikema has to re-read each spring - just for the love of the story!  If you haven’t read it before come and check it out — or check out the audio version of the book and listen or read along.  (Great Family Reading!)

Have  you read “The White Giraffe” or “11 Birthdays” yet?  They are the next two on Miss Buikema’s reading stack.  Feel free to send her an email with your review of either of these or something else that you have read and enjoyed!  Email Miss Buikema at nbuikema@roe55.k12.il.us  .
