Guided Reading Information
We have Guided Reading every day. Each group focuses on learning to read by using appropriate leveled books. We look for sight words, predict, summarize, make connections, and practice questioning.
Our Kindergarten sight words are:
First Quarter: I a me like see did on do
Second Quarter: the my to is go it at we in with
Third Quarter: and look for have can you what how
Fourth Quarter: here said he she play are away where
We also practice color and number words: red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, grey, white one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten.
I also introduce the Dolch Pre-Primer words. Those words include: away, big, can, come, down, find, funny, help, in, it, jump, little, look, make, me, not, run, up, we, where, and you.
