Leaders Are Readers

October 26, 2009 | Homework

Remember to read something every day!

Read for AR,  read for directions, read for homework, read text messages, read your facebook, read the lunch menu, read the note your mom left you, read your agenda, read the newspaper, read the T.V. guide, read the t-shirt the guy in front of you is wearing, read your bills, read the score of the game, read words, read numbers, read to your little brother, read to your little sister,  read to the dog, read the scroll at the bottom of the screen, read People, read the comics, read your history book, read your birthday cards, read for fun, read for information…just READ!

Remember - Readers are Leaders!

Extra Credit:  Bring in something you have read from a newspaper or magazine and
tell me about it to earn some extra credit for second quarter!!

Homework for ALL Literature Classes

September 30, 2009 | Homework

1st quarter ends October 16.  Remember that AR points count towards your grade.  Read, read, read…

Some quick easy reads are available but understand that many of these books are only worth 0.5 points.  The goal for this quarter is 3 to 5  points for many of you.

See either  Mrs. Hamilton or me for more interesting reading suggestions.

What Are Middle Schoolers

author unknown

What are middle schoolers
I was asked one day
I knew what they were
But what should I say
They are noise and confusion
They are silence that is deep
They are sunshine and laughter
Or a cloud that will weep
She is swift as an arrow
He is a waster of time
She wants to be rich
But cannot save a dime
He is rude and nasty
She is polite as can be
He wants parental guidance
But fights to be free
She is aggressive and bossy
He is timid and shy
She knows all the answers
But still asks “why”
She is awkward and clumsy
He is graceful and poised
She is ever changing
But do not be annoyed
What are middle schoolers
I was asked one day
They are the future unfolding
So do not stand in their way

Check it out!   Go look it up.” just got easier!
