Mrs. Marten

I am not only your son or daughters fifth grade teacher but I am also a wife and a mother.  My husband is a Firefighter/EMT with the Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department and has been in this line of work for over 17 years.  I also have 3 children, Allie, Carter and Chloe.  Allie is in seventh grade at River Bend Middle School and Carter is in Kindergarten this year.   Chloe is 22 months old and goes to a babysitter’s house while I spend my days with your children.  I also have 1 dog who I enjoy very much.  I have a 2 year old lab mix named Socks.  I love to watch my children and my dogs interact with each other. 

Together we all live here in Fulton, Illinois and we enjoy the life of a small town on the river.  We truly enjoy being outside together and when it is warm outside we truly enjoy kayaking.  I also enjoy reading, walking, and relaxing in our swimming pool when the weather is nice.  On top of all the extras I enjoy, I am currently working on obtaining my Masters Degree from Ashford University.

This is my sixth year of teaching here at FES.  Five of those years have been in fifth grade while one was in second grade.  I love to watch the students grow from the beginning of the year until the time they are ready to move on to the middle school.  I enjoy a challenge and will never give up until the challenge has been successfully met. 

I hope that we will have a truly wonderful year learning and growing together in fifth grade.
